It was the story on January 8th,2012.
In the morning, Linda and I went to Pasar Seni, Ancol. We were going to perform
Pa’gellu Dance on the stage of Dance Festival held by Ekayana Dance Studio. We
are the students of Ekayana Dance Studio. The instructors asked us to join at
Dance Festival whereas we recently joined at that course. We were so glad. We
practiced less than a month to perform Pa’gellu dance. So we practiced hard
every Tuesday and Friday evening until the day of performance. Pa’gellu dance
is one of traditional dances from Toraja, South Sulawesi. Pa’gellu dance is
usually performed by women at wedding ceremony or harvest time. Pa’gellu dance
is reflecting a grateful and happiness of the successful efforts on farms there.
The costume was so beautiful. I was
proud wearing it. I felt like a Toraja princess… here I am…

Beside Linda and I, the dancers of Pa’gellu
dance were Zelfy, Elisabeth and Nabila. They had practiced it before. Just hope
that there was no mistake movement on the stage and we would be a cohesive
group. Firstly, I didn’t know that the dance is competed, when we saw there
were some trophies, ohh yeahh.. we should show our best. I just made one
mistakes, hehee… just a little mistake. After all dancers performed their
dance, it’s time to the announcement of the winners. Believe it or not! We got the
trophy of Juara Harapan II. It’s amazing. I didn’t believe it! it is because we
just practiced it less than a month, meanwhile the others have practiced their
dance more than 3 months. I just can say, Alhamdulillah.
